【摘要】:Thisguideisintendedtobeusedbydevelopersofstandardsandotherdocumentsinthefieldofrenewableresourcesandgreenbuildingtoevaluatewhethertheattributesofaspecificforestmanagementsystemmeettheintentofsustainableforestmanagement.Inadditiontotheattributesaddressedbythisdocument,someusersmaywishtoimposeotherevaluationcriteriaintendedtosatisfygoalsbeyondmaintainingsustained-yieldandsustainableforestmanagement.Whiletheseissuesarenotspecificallyaddressedinthisguide,somearediscussedinAppendixX1,Commentary.1.1Thisguideprovidesalistofcriteriaandindicatorsthathavebeenshowntobeusefulinachievingthegoalsofasustainableforestmanagementplan.Thisguidelistsasetofcriteriaconsideredtobeimportantforthefollowingtasks:1.1.1Todescribe,assess,andevaluateprogresstowardsustainabilityofforestmanagementatthenational,regional,orindividualforestlevel.1.1.2Toinformthepolicydebateatregional,national,andinternationallevels.1.1.3Toevaluatetheattributesofaforestmanagementcertificationorevaluationsystemwithaspecificcombinationofforestmanagementprinciples,practices,oradaptations,wheresuchpracticesareevaluatedagainstasetofprescribedstandards.Althoughthisguideprovidesaqualitativelistofcriteriaforevaluationofforestconditions,itdoesnotpurporttorecommendanyspecificforestmanagementcertificationorevaluationsystemorsubsetofoverallattributes.Theguidedoesnotreplaceforestcertificationorverificationstandards.1.2Thisguidewillrequirecompilationofinformationfrommultiplesourcesacrossvariousgovernmentalandnongovernmentalagencies.Forthisguidetobeuseful,itisrecommendedthattheinformationcollectedisinalignmentwiththatwhichisalreadycollectedforotherpurposes;otherwisetheseindicatorsmaybetoogreatanefforttocombineinatimelyfashion.Note18212;Althoughthisdocumentprovidesgeneralguidanceapplicabletoforestsandforestproductsfrommanycountries,itsinitialapplicationisexpectedtofocusonNorthAmerica.1.3Thisguidecannotreplaceeducationorexperienceandshouldbeusedinconjunctionwithprofessionaljudgmentsuchasthatprovidedbyforesters,forestscientists,andwoodtechnologists.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
